January

Roberta Cooper Ramo, President of the American Law Institute gave the 2009 Travers Smith Annual Lecture.  Her talk, entitled "Private Lawyers - Public Responsibilities" took place at the Law Faculty on Wednesday 21st January 2009.

The Centre held a conference on the 12th January on "Corporate Ownership and Control", organised in conjunction with the European Corporate Governance Institute and sponsored by Cambridge Finance and SJ Berwin.

The Honourable Justice Dyson Heydon AC, of the High Court of Australia, gave a lunchtime talk entitled “How Far Can Trial Courts and Intermediate Appellate Courts Develop the Law?”.  The talk took place on Monday 26th January at 1pm in the Faculty of Law.  

Dr Dirk Zetzsche, Heinrich Heine University, Duesseldorf, gave an evening seminar entitled "Empty Voting and Hidden Ownership - The European Perspective".  The seminar took place on Tuesday 27th January at 5.15pm at the Institute of Criminology.

February

Dr Emilios Avgouleas, University of Manchester, gave an evening seminar entitled "International Financial Regulation and the Governance of Global Financial Markets: Meeting the Challenges".  The seminar took place on Tuesday 17th February 2009 at 5.15pm in the Faculty of Law.

Professor Frank Partnoy, University of San Diego, gave an evening seminar entitled "A Historical Perspective on the Financial Crisis".  The seminar took place on Wednesday 25th February 2009 at 5pm in the Faculty of Law.

March

The Centre along with the Centre for Financial Analysis and Policy (part of Cambridge Finance) held a conference at St John's College, Cambridge on the 19-20 March on Civil Enforcement.  The conference was supported by the Cambridge Endowment for Research in Finance (CERF).  Further details can be found in the post-conference report.

Professor Jennifer Hill, University of Sydney, gave an evening seminar entitled "Selective Regulation: Lessons from the News Corp Waivers".  The seminar took place on Thursday 7th May 2009 at 5pm in the Faculty of Law.

October

Paul Davies, Gonville & Caius College, gave the first in a series of work in progress seminars organised by the Centre.  The topic of his paper was "Civil Accessory Liability".  The seminar took place on Tuesday 20th October 2009 at 1pm in the Faculty of Law. 

November

Brian Sloan, Kings College, gave a work in progess seminar to the topic of "Proprietary Estoppel in the House of Lords: The Contextual Dimension".  The seminar took place on Tuesday 10th November 2009 at 1pm in the Faculty of Law. 

Professor Christoph Paulus, Dean of the Faculty of Humboldt University, Berlin, gave a lunchtime seminar entitled "Group Insolvency Law - Some Recent Developments".  The seminar took place on Tuesday 17th November 2010
