Justice Heydon AC, of the High Court of Australia, gave a 3CL Lunchtime Seminar entitled "Judicial Independence: The Enemy Within". The seminar took place at the Law Faculty on Monday 23rd January 2012.

February

Ed Murray, partner at Allen & Overy, gave a 3CL Evening Lecture entitled "Did derivatives cause the financial crisis? A practising lawyer's perspective". The lecture took place at the Law Faculty on Monday 13th February 2012.

Professor Mathias Siems (Durham University) gave a 3CL lunchtime seminar entitled "The Law and Finance of Share Repurchases in Europe".  The seminar took place in the Faculty of Law (G11) on Tuesday 1st May 2012.

Professor Geoffrey Shields, Dean of Vermont Law School from 2004 to mid-2012 and a Herbert Smith visitor to the Law Faculty, gave a 3CL seminar entitled "An Insider's Guide to Practising Corporate Law Across the Pond". The lecture took place at the Law Faculty on Friday 19th October 2012.

New Legal Thinking in Financial Regulation Conference, 29/30 November

Faculty members and students from the Law Faculty, Cambridge University and the Law Department, London School of Economics and Political Science, came together in Cambridge for a two day conference exploring new and emerging issues in financial regulation. The conference, which marked the launch of the Cambridge Masters' in Corporate Law, was organized by the Centre for Corporate and Commercial Law (Cambridge) and the Law and Financial Markets Project (LSE).
